Professor Adjunto at the Faculdade de Computação (FACOM) and permanent member of the Graduate Program in Computer Science (PPGCC) at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). PhD and Master by the Graduate Program in Informatics (PPGI) at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), and Bachelor of Computer Science from UFAM. Awarded in 2020 as the best Software Engineering thesis and the best Information Systems thesis in Brazil, and previously recognized among the best Computer Science master's theses in Brazil by SBC. He has experience with developer communities, having worked for six years in Developer Relations (DevRel) as a developer evangelist for Nokia and Microsoft across Brazil and Latin America — organizing hackathons, developer conferences and training, in addition to leading technical teams. He serves as a reviewer for journals and technical program committees of conferences and workshops. Within Software Engineering, his research interests include Developer Relations (DevRel), Software Ecosystems, Mining Software Repositories, Software Engineering applied to Machine Learning, and Experimental Software Engineering. He coordinates the Software Engineering Lab at FACOM/UFMS and is a member of the Complex Systems Engineering Laboratory (Lab Esc) at UNIRIO.

I research the intersections of Software Engineering, Software Ecosystems, and Artificial Intelligence, focusing on Developer Relations (DevRel), Developer eXperience (DX), and Software Engineering for/with AI.

Research Lines

Developer Relations (DevRel)

DevRel is the interface between third-party developers and a platform's product, engineering, and design teams. As part of Software Ecosystem governance, I investigate how DevRel teams create value, govern developer communities, and sustain ecosystems over time — DevRel roles and skills, value creation strategies, and governance models for mobile and proprietary ecosystems.

Software Ecosystems

Software Ecosystems involve the technical, social, and business dimensions of interactions among platforms, developers, and users. I research SECO governance, health metrics, and ecosystem death signals.

Mobile Software Ecosystems

My PhD and early research focused on governance, certification, and developer experience within mobile application ecosystems — processes to support developers throughout the app lifecycle, from onboarding to certification.

Software Engineering applied to Machine Learning and Deep Learning

With the growing adoption of Machine Learning and Deep Learning in software products, specific Software Engineering challenges arise: model traceability, technical debt in ML pipelines, architecture of intelligent systems, and security tactics for AI-based systems.

Mining Software Repositories

I mine and analyze data from Git, GitHub, and Q&A platforms such as Stack Overflow to understand developer behavior, community dynamics, and code and community smells in open-source and proprietary projects.

Software Verification, Validation & Testing

Research on software testing techniques and processes, quality assurance, and the tester's experience (Tester Experience) throughout the testing lifecycle.
